The most important thing I picked up was the critical thinking skills. In hindsight, the school was the first time I was in an environment where anything could be challenged or questioned and a lot of what I learned there stuck with me afterwards.

I live in Toronto these days. I’m an entrepreneur and creator. I run a company in the technology media space focused on AI. Outside of that, I’m a creator and my work reaches over 2 million followers across different social media platforms. Before this, I was a senior executive for technology startups.

At Ecolint, I really enjoyed the time I spent with my friends. I’m still close with some of these friends today and we talk regularly. The most fun I had when I was at school was playing football and doing extracurricular things like planning events.

The most important thing I picked up was the critical thinking skills. In hindsight, the school was the first time I was in an environment where anything could be challenged or questioned and a lot of what I learned there stuck with me afterwards.

If I had to do it all over again, I would care less about what other people thought about me and focus more on things that interested me. When you have a group of friends, there’s an incentive to fit in with their interests but it’s the weird stuff that you find interesting that makes you uniquely you.

My words of wisdom for Ecolint students: Find things that feel like play to you but work to others. And don’t be afraid to geek out on stuff that really interests you inside and outside of school. If you’re lucky, that thing might turn out to be the thing you end up doing for a career. Even if there’s no clear way to turn that interest or hobby into a career right now, if you pursue enough things deeply over the years, you’ll find something that sticks.

Hopefully, my work can be an inspiration to those who want to take non-traditional career paths and build their own thing.
